Mechanical Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for a Contract to Hire job with a client in Erie PA 16511 (Onsite) roles. We are ideally looking for working experience in the Mechanical design/ Light fabrication area.

Pay Range: $40-$45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design and development of Cabs and its components for locomotive application using sound Engineering principles, adhering to business standards/ processes and as per program requirements.

• Ability to understand the system requirements flow down to sub-system. Develop concepts and evaluate, identify risks and mitigation plans to address them.

• Take the design through technical reviews. Document the technical data consistent with Engineering policies and quality procedures.

• Provide shop support for in-house manufacturing and address supplier/field issues.

• Interfacing with cross functional stakeholders across the organization.

• Interactions will include engineering sub-system teams; systems engineering; drafting team and manufacturing across the global sites.

• Write drawing change requests and interface with drafting team for layouts, detail design, drawings and change implementation.

• Review detailed drawings completed by drafting.

• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Or Equivalent.

• Years of Experience: 3 to 6 years, Working experience in the Mechanical design/ Light fabrication area.

• Exposure to engineering calculation such as material strength/Fatigue, bolted joint, welded joint etc.

• Knowledge of FEA is added advantage.

• Ability in navigate UG/Teamcenter.

• Basic knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, GD&T, Tolerance stack up & AWS specs.

• Good communication and Presentation skills.
