Job Overview
The Clairton Police Department is currently accepting applications from individuals seeking to join a professional, team-oriented agency where the work matters and officers are supported.
The Police Officer position plays a critical role in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and building strong relationships within the community. Officers respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, proactively patrol assigned areas, and engage with the public in a fair and respectful manner.

Key Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity
- Enforce state laws and local ordinances
- Respond promptly to calls for service and emergencies
- Conduct criminal investigations, including evidence collection and witness interviews
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports
- Enforce traffic laws and conduct vehicle stops
- Utilize de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques
- Collaborate with neighboring agencies and task forces
- Assist with crowd control and public events
- Serve warrants and make lawful arrests
- Handle animal-related incidents when necessary
- Maintain awareness of laws, policies, and community concerns
Minimum Requirements
- Must have completed Act 120 training or be currently enrolled with completion prior to hire
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Commitment to ethical conduct and professional standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Criminal investigation experience or training
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania criminal and vehicle codes
- Leadership and decision-making ability
- Conflict management and de-escalation skills
- Community-oriented policing experience
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting Pay: $35.91/hour

Physical Agility Test Requirements:
STRETCHER CARRY (Two-Person Event)
- Applicants must carry a stretcher with a simulated patient around a marked course and return to the starting point.
- Distance: 100 feet
- Weight: 200 pounds
- One additional attempt permitted with a qualified partner
SIMULATED BODY DRAG
Applicants must drag a simulated body without assistance.
- Distance: 50 feet
- Weight: 200 pounds
- Time Limit: 15 seconds
QUARTER-MILE RUN
- Applicants must complete a 1/4 mile run (approximately 1.5 laps around the building).
- Maximum Time: 110 seconds
Window Climb
- Applicants must climb through a 6-foot window onto a 3-foot elevated platform and safely return to the ground.
Trigger Pull
- Applicants must repeatedly pull the trigger of a double-action, nonfunctional revolver.
- 30-SECOND TRIGGER PULL
- Strong Hand: Minimum 30 pulls
- Weak Hand: Minimum 15 pulls
