Supplier Quality Manager (Onsite)

Job Purpose
Regional Supplier Quality Manager will work in a team environment with suppliers and EnerSys to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste, and continuous improvements. Supplier Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring that purchased products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to EnerSys local and corporate Quality Management System. This Position reports to the Senior Quality Manager.
TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS:
- 60% or more Travel to Suppliers, other EnerSys Sites and Corporate
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a supplier quality strategy for the Americas aligned with overall quality goals.
- Ensure supplier quality processes meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation for supplier quality processes, audits, assessments, and metrics.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance using KPIs and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to define supplier quality requirements.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support quality improvement.
- Facilitate timely communication between suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues.
- Report on supplier quality performance, trends, issues, and improvement plans to senior leadership.
- Drive supplier development and quality improvement plans, including training on standards and best practices.
- Mentor junior team members to strengthen the supplier quality function.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and relevant quality standards.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for supplier quality issues; experience with due diligence is a plus.
- Conduct supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with product and process standards.
- Lead risk assessments and process capability evaluations for purchased items; experience with SPC, FMEA, Lean Six Sigma, and MSA required.
Qualifications
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and their requirements. Included here is the ability to learn and understand the requirements of alternate quality systems standards such as ISO 9000, IATF16949, VDA6.3 etc.
- Strong data analysis skill and data driven approach.
- Strong knowledge and experience in performing supplier auditing adhering to various quality management systems.
- Lead and develop suppliers and internal team with effective communication, problem solving and delegation skills.
- Ensure that all supplier quality processes comply with relevant industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, Battery Regulatory Compliance etc.).
- Experience with Plastic Injection Molding, Mechanical and Electrical assembly processes.
- The ability to understand EnerSys roles, responsibilities, departments including Sourcing, Purchasing, Engineering, and Suppliers.
- Must be able to understand and become proficient in the business systems required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. This includes ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, PTC Windchill or similar.
- Must be able to interface with all levels of personnel including Management, Suppliers, and auditors.
- Demonstrated high ethical standards to do the right thing the first time, every time.
- Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple, changing priorities.
- Ability to understand and improve the supplier manufacturing process.
- Proactive approach towards problem-solving to improve the KPI(s) related to the Quality Department.
- Relative experience in design or manufacturing environment with a good understanding of product life cycle from conception to obsolescence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Electronic, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical discipline, practical knowledge of supplier management.
- Experience in supplier audits, quality assessments, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Management (total 10 + years of experience in quality).
- Proven track record of successful supplier development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, etc.) and tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC).
- Highly proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
- Certified IAFT16949 and/or VDA Supplier auditor and/or ISO9001 auditor.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
