The Role at a Glance
As the AVP, Actuary M&A Strategy, you’ll lead high-impact initiatives that shape the future of our organization through strategic vision and actuarial expertise. This role combines advanced financial modeling with deep actuarial insight to evaluate and execute transactions that drive enterprise growth. You’ll be responsible for building, evaluating, and maintaining sophisticated models that incorporate statutory, GAAP, and actuarial assumptions ensuring precision in valuation, risk assessment, and deal structuring. Your work will directly support M&A and other strategic transactions, requiring a strong understanding of insurance product dynamics, liability modeling, and capital implications. This is a unique opportunity to influence enterprise strategy, collaborate with senior leadership, and deliver financial and operational outcomes that position the company for long-term success.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and maintain advanced financial and actuarial models to assess potential deals, forecast company performance, and support M&A and strategic initiatives.
- Integrate actuarial assumptions (e.g., mortality, lapse, reserve methodologies) into valuation and deal structuring models to ensure accurate risk and profitability analysis.
- Play a key role in due diligence for M&A transactions, conducting thorough financial and actuarial analysis of target companies, including reserve adequacy and capital requirements.
- Create clear, concise, and compelling presentations for senior management and executive leadership, translating complex actuarial and financial insights into actionable strategies.
- Evaluate and interpret highly complex economic and insurance industry trends to inform short-term and long-term M&A policies and plans.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Actuarial, Finance, Risk, Operations, and Legal—to execute deals and lead the transition from transaction to integrated business operations.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics to inform modeling assumptions and strategic recommendations.
- Participate as needed on enterprise committees (e.g., Asset Liability, Risk, Product, Capital Management), providing actuarial and strategic expertise.
What we’re looking for
Must-Haves
- 10+ Years experience in M&A, corporate development, actuarial, or finance or a related field, with a strong focus on the life insurance and annuity sectors.
- Extensive experience in building complex financial models, with a demonstrated understanding of life insurance and annuity statutory and GAAP corporate modeling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clean, visually effective presentations that convey a strong narrative.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
Preferred
- ASA or FSA designation

The pay range for this position is $125,800 - $229,100 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
