We are seeking an experienced and passionate Vice President of Institutional Advancement to lead and execute CORA’s fundraising strategy as well as our marketing and communications efforts. As a member of our Executive Leadership Team, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all advancement initiatives including cultivating major donors, foundation and corporate giving, major campaigns and event planning, marketing, branding and public relations. The Vice President of Institutional Advancement will work closely with CORA’s CEO, Board of Directors, and leadership teams on a broad range of strategic and fund development activities.

In addition, as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement your duties will include:
- Development and implementation of a comprehensive development plan aligned with CORA’s mission and strategic vision, identifying and prioritizing fundraising opportunities across various channels (major gifts, corporate giving, foundation grants, special events, planned giving)
- Conducting in-depth analysis of the current donor landscape, identifying potential new funding sources, and cultivating relationships with key prospects including soliciting high-level individual donors through personalized outreach, relationship building, and compelling presentations of CORA’s impact
- Collaborating with the CEO and Board of Directors to engage key donor prospects and secure significant contributions; preparing the CEO and Board of Directors for cultivation and solicitation activities and accompany them as needed when meeting prospects and donors
- Researching and identifying potential grant opportunities aligned with CORA’s mission and strategic priorities; leading the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, including compelling narratives, budget justifications, and impact assessments; managing grant reporting processes to maintain compliance with funder requirements; supporting Government Relations efforts to secure state and federal funding
- Establishing and implementing a donor stewardship program to cultivate long-term relationships with donors through personalized communications, recognition events, and updates on program impacts; regularly engaging with donors to understand their philanthropic interests and motivations, tailoring engagement strategies accordingly
- Leading the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that elevates awareness of CORA’s mission and services, engages key audiences, and drives impactful support for our mission
- Providing strategic direction and overseeing all aspects of CORA’s marketing and communications including branding, advertising, traditional and social media, collateral materials, website, etc.
- Overseeing, mentoring, and supervising department staff and volunteers through management practices that support positive relationships and promote a high level of staff morale, motivation and collaboration
- Developing and managing the annual departmental budget
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 7-10 years of experience in fund development required with at least 5 years of management experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience developing and implementing strategy for marketing and communications
- Demonstrated expertise in building and leading a strategic, data-driven fund development function including planning and implementation of donor cultivation and fund development activities that expand reach and impact
- Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising including personal solicitation of major gifts
- Ability to effectively convey CORA’s mission and work to external audiences
- Familiarity with the Philadelphia-area philanthropic community preferred
- Outstanding management skills and ability to motivate staff and volunteers
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
- Passion and commitment to do this work in a mission-driven organization
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office and donor management/fundraising applications
