EFDA or Dental Assistant

Busy dental office in downtown Wilkes-Barre is seeking a motivated and experienced Dental Assistant or EFDA to join our team. We are looking for someone professional, dependable, and patient-focused who works well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Assisting the dentist during dental procedures
- Preparing and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment
- Providing chairside assistance during procedures
- Taking dental x-rays
- Performing patient assessments and recording medical history
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Following HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Providing patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program
- X-Ray certification

- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and equipment
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems (Dentrix, OneView)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with patients and dental team members
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and sterilization techniques

-Must possess current required clearances, including:

• FBI Fingerprinting
• Child Abuse Clearance
• Background Check

Position Details

• 3-day work week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• PTO available
• Wages and benefits are negotiable based on experience and qualifications
