ZMC Logistics - Diesel Mechanic

Essential Job Functions :

• Perform preventative maintenance on tractors, dry van and tanker trailers. Also, light duty equip.
• Perform annual inspection of tractors, dry vans, tanker trailers and light equip, according to state/federal requirements
• Operate machinery associated with heavy truck/trailer, equipment shop
• Keep shop areas clean and free of hazards.
• Ability to diagnose issues through visual and sound.
• Major and minor repairs of all heavy and light equipment to include but not limited to, tank trailer pump rebuild, repair, replace. Brake systems, electrical, suspension, after-treatment/SCR/DEF/DPF, fuel systems, AC, etc.
• Road test equipment to diagnose issues or to complete inspections.
• Must be able to perform road calls as needed.
• Rotational on call schedule to include weekends
• Wears the proper safety equipment as required
• Any other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by the manager or supervisor
• Safety training and certifications as required
• Track repairs, equipment DVIR issues, warranties. Files
• Timely processing of work orders, and invoices.
• Designated Safety Sensitive Position

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience (Licenses and Certifications):

• High school diploma or GED
• Diesel trade School certification preferred.
• CDL Class A or B. (If B, upgrade within 6 months)
• Military veterans with Heavy truck repair
• PA State class 7 inspection license
• Welding experience a plus
• Ability to adjust shift schedules if needed to meet job demands
• Air Brake certified
• Must have own hand tools. Specialty tools provided by company
• Experience with Mack, Peterbilt, and Kenworth Tractors a plus
• Experience with non-hazmat tank trailer pumps and systems a plus

Equipment to Be Used:

• Computer, forklift and all equipment related to a heavy truck repair shop

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in a heavy truck/trailer shop
• Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion
• Ability to meet stringent attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Ability to work under stress with interruptions and deadlines
• Ability to understand and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form as they pertain to all things repair shop
• Ability to master basic math skills
• Basic computer skills to include Outlook email, basic spread sheets, and internet

Essential Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 55 pounds and heavier safely.
• Ability to seek help with moving or carrying objects that may cause an injury.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb.

Working Hours:

• Standard working hours for 1st shift are: 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday and as necessary to complete the requirements of the position. Schedule could be 6:30 to 2:30.
• Overtime may be required, and hours are subject to change based on company needs
• Employees are required to clock in 10 minutes before the beginning of the shift
