• Job Title: Locum Tenens Medical Physicist – Radiation Oncology
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Contract)
• Healthcare Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital – Radiation Oncology Unit
• Location: Flagstaff, Arizona 86001
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Hours per Week: 40
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $5,320 – $5,460
• Free Parking
• Charting System: Cerner

Medical Physicist Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology
• Master's Degree in Medical Physics or related discipline required; PhD in Medical Physics preferred
• Completion of Part 1 Certification by the American Board of Radiation Therapy Physics or Radiological Physics (required)
• BLS (American Heart Association) preferred
• Low Dose Radiation and High Dose Radiation License highly preferred
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Proficiency in External Beam Radiation Therapy (Teletherapy), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), radiation safety, and oncology patient care
• Ability to work with adult and geriatric patient populations
• First-time healthcare travelers accepted
• Ability to float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed

Medical Physicist Responsibilities

• Deliver medical physics support for radiation oncology, including external beam radiation therapy and IMRT
• Maintain compliance with radiation safety protocols and Arizona licensing requirements
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care
• Participate in quality assurance and patient safety initiatives
• Utilize Cerner for accurate charting and documentation
• Support both inpatient and outpatient oncology units
• Follow facility standards for medication administration and patient safety
• Complete required orientation modules and ongoing training
