Hospital Laboratory Technician Job Details

• Setting: Hospital Laboratory / Clinical Laboratory
• Employment Type: Travel Laboratory Technician
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: December 29, 2025
• Duration: 13-week travel contract
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Day Shift with Weekend Rotation
• Shift Details: 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1750 - $1790

Lab Technician Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
• No previous experience required; new graduates are encouraged to apply
• Certification as Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent
• Experience in Microbiology required
• Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical support skills
• Ability to collaborate with hospital departments, medical staff, and patients

Key Responsibilities for Hospital Lab Tech

• Perform diagnostic analyses on blood and body fluids for patient care
• Maintain proficiency in all clinical laboratory departments
• Accurately prepare, process, and log laboratory specimens
• Conduct manual and automated laboratory testing, ensuring quality control
• Review and release laboratory results for accuracy and completeness
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and resolve procedural issues
• Assist in training technical personnel and participate in proficiency testing
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory
• Follow safety, infection control, and quality assurance protocols
• Recommend improvements to laboratory workflows and services
• Perform specimen collection and verify patient identification
• Support laboratory team and accept additional assignments as needed
