Position Summary:

The Production Core Operator (PCO) will be responsible for the proper, safe and efficient operation of equipment utilizing human-machine interface control technology to produce high-quality food and beverage products. Operators will perform autonomous activities, which include, but are not limited to, oiling and greasing machines, changeovers, lock-out/tag-out and other minor adjustments. Operators will rotate between and maintain qualifications and cross-functional skills for all Flexline tasks. 12-month bid requirement.

Pay rate starts at $28.40.

Description of Duties : (Duties are subject to change, and/or additional duties may be assigned to equipment demands change and ongoing development of the Flexline.)

  • Duties list will expand and evolve as PCO implementation progresses.
  • PCOs will rotate among all the jobs in the production/packaging department.
  • PCOs must maintain qualifications in the above jobs.
  • Operates equipment using human-machine interface control technology in order to achieve department objectives.
  • Observe operations and ensure that schedules are being met and that quality standards are maintained.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance activities which include but not limited to oiling and greasing machines, changeovers, lock-out/tag-out and other minor adjustments.
  • Submits reports summarizing daily production operations.
  • Inspects and tests production line set-ups to ensure proper operation of all equipment.
  • Monitors equipment to ensure that it is functioning properly.
  • Performs product quality checks including, but not limited to: CCPs, juice attributes, product specification validations, and other necessary testing and documentation as needed.
  • Performs equipment CIPs as necessary, including equipment swabbing, inspections, and additional validations as needed.
  • Ensures that adequate quantities of production supplies and ingredients are available to meet current and planned production schedules.
  • Check production equipment daily to determine that it has been cleaned properly.
  • Maintains acceptable levels of housekeeping and sanitation within the department.
  • Responsible for pre-cleaning and sanitation of equipment, work area and surrounding areas of the line when the line is operating and when the line is down for clean-up. This includes but is not limited to cleaning as designated by the line SOP, maintaining routine records and forms, minor maintenance and adjustments as needed, sweeping, cleaning, and steaming as required, and assisting in other work related to the job as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Requests maintenance to equipment as required.
  • Understands and operates all systems, equipment, controllers, etc., necessary to perform job duties.
  • Understands and adheres to all Safety, Quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Performs assigned work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Takes necessary precautions and utilizes appropriate safety equipment when required.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management.

Has responsibilities in the following areas:

  • HACCP – adhere to all requirements for Welch employees as outlined in Corporate and North East HACCP Manual.
  • SQF – adhere to all requirements for Welch Employees as outlined in Corporate and North East SQF Manual.
  • Food Defense – adhere to all requirements for Welch Employees as outlined in Corporate and North East Food Defense Manual. Attend annual Food Defense training sessions.

What You'll Need:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience as a Production Worker, Manufacturing Associate, Material Handler, General Labor, or other Manufacturing or industrial role preferred.
  • Experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment preferred.
