Job Description

Join our team as a Shop Helper where you will play a vital role in assisting with the fabrication and assembly of ductwork. Your main tasks will include hammering ductwork, insulating curves and ducts, bending metal, and following blueprints to fabricate ducts. You will also support welders and machinists, tact sheet-metal together, and perform general shop duties as assigned. This position requires a willingness to work in an insulation room and be comfortable with getting your hands dirty.

Responsibilities

• Hammer ductwork and insulate curves and ducts.
• Bend metal and follow blueprints to fabricate ducts.
• Assist welders and machinists in their tasks.
• Tact sheet-metal together.
• Perform general shop duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean work environment by sweeping and organizing during downtime.

Essential Skills

• Mechanically inclined with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with sheet metal, duct installation, and metal bending.
• Proficiency in metalworking, blueprint interpretation, and fabrication.
• Ability to work with HVAC systems and welding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a sheet metal shop assembling ductwork.
• HVAC experience or related schooling is a plus.
• Customer service skills are beneficial.
• Valid driver's license and comfort driving a small truck.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a shop setting where you will collaborate with welders and other shop employees to prepare products for installation at client sites. The shop can experience varying temperatures, being cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and is typically loud and dirty. Candidates are expected to provide their own steel-toed boots and basic hand tools. The work schedule is from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrisburg, PA.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $25.00/hr.
