Position: Protection Settings Engineer III
Location: fully remote (EST or CST preferred)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Protection Settings Engineer III to join our team. This role involves developing and maintaining protection settings for distribution systems, performing fault and coordination studies, and configuring protective relays. The position offers flexibility with a hybrid schedule (Tues-Thurs on-site) or fully remote work for candidates in EST or CST time zones.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain protection settings for distribution systems.
• Perform fault studies, coordination studies, and relay setting calculations.
• Configure and develop settings for protective relays, including SEL (351, 551, 651, 751, etc.), S&C Tripsavers, and other legacy relay platforms.
• Utilize software tools such as CYMDIST, CAPE, ASPEN, and Powerbase for system modeling and analysis.
• Collaborate with field personnel and other engineering teams to ensure proper implementation of protection schemes.
• Review and interpret system one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and relay logic.
• Support remote commissioning and troubleshooting of protection systems.
• Maintain documentation and records of protection settings and relay configurations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in distribution protection engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CYMDIST, CAPE, ASPEN, and Powerbase.
• Strong understanding of protection principles, fault analysis, and coordination.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Pay Range: $70 - $80

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
