Senior Hygienist

Mid-Atlantic Dental Partners
Newtown Square, PA

Overview

The Regional Hygienist is a highly experienced, high-performing clinician who provides in-market leadership, coaching, and operational support to hygienists across multiple clinics. This hybrid role includes regular patient care at a home office, along with a dedicated administrative day (weekly or biweekly) to support offices through training, performance improvement, and clinical standardization.

This administrative time is additive and does not replace clinical production days. The Regional Hygienist plays a key role in driving high-quality patient care, consistent clinical protocols, improved performance outcomes, and strong hygienist engagement—while aligning with overall operational goals.

Responsibilities

Clinical

  • Deliver comprehensive hygiene services, including prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, polishing restorations, and application of preventive agents such as fluoride and sealants
  • Accurately review and update patient dental and periodontal history, document treatment, and maintain records in compliance with HIPAA
  • Assist the dentist as needed and administer local anesthesia (where permitted)
  • Serve as a clinical role model for workflow efficiency, documentation, and patient communication
  • Maintain clinical productivity and meet established production benchmarks

Administrative

  • Provide on-site coaching and support to hygienists, including perio protocols, patient experience, documentation, and efficiency
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new hygienists
  • Conduct chart audits to ensure compliance and diagnostic consistency
  • Assist offices with staffing gaps, workflow challenges, or performance improvement opportunities
  • Drive adoption of standardized hygiene protocols across the market
  • Partner with operations leadership to identify trends, escalate concerns, and support market-wide initiatives

Operational & Reporting

  • Report directly to the Director of Operations
  • Provide clear communication, documentation, and follow-up from office visits
  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships across clinics and teams

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing
  • 3+ years of clinical hygiene experience; leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of hygiene KPIs, periodontal protocols, documentation standards, and workflow optimization
  • Proven ability to coach and develop peers effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel within the assigned market
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • High level of clinical integrity and commitment to patient care excellence
