Accountant (Staff Accountant)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Record Keeping:

• Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset records.
• Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with established accounting principles and company policies.

2. Reconciliations:

• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable records regularly to ensure accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.

3. Month-End and Year-End Closing:

• Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements and reports.
• Post adjusting journal entries as needed to reflect accurate financial data.

4. Financial Reporting:

• Generate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare various financial analysis reports to support decision-making.

5. Expense Management:

• Monitor and track expenses, ensuring adherence to budgets and expense policies.
• Process and review employee expense reports.

6. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
• Assist in managing accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.

7. Auditing and Compliance:

• Assist in financial audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting auditors as required.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

8. Data Analysis:

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.

9. Documentation and Filing:

• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
• Safeguard sensitive financial information.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role, approx. (3-5 years)
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or in progress.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAGE, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
• Familiarity with financial reporting and analysis tools.
• Previous experience in auditing or tax accounting.
• Knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices (e.g., waste management, call center environment).
