Job Summary
If you're interested in a n Entry Level Scientist job , then this is the best role for you ! The successful candidate will join the CMC Bio-DS Cell Culture team at a Berkeley site, supporting cell therapy development projects. The role primarily focuses on work involving embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), along with general mammalian cell culture activities. This position exists to support research, development, and operational cell culture activities critical to cell therapy and biologics programs.
Job Description
- Collaborate closely with a team of scientists to support cell culture projects.
- Follow verbal and written procedures with accuracy and consistency.
- Cell Culture Operations
- Perform aseptic techniques for culturing iPSCs, ESCs, and CHO cell lines.
- Execute cell thawing, passaging, and harvesting for cell therapy and monoclonal antibody production projects.
- Conduct basic analytical tasks, including cell counts and monitoring metabolites and gases during passages.
- Bioreactor Cultures
- Set up bioreactors, perform inoculations, and conduct daily sampling.
- Perform routine adjustments such as feeding and probe calibration.
- Media and Solution Preparation
- Prepare media, feeds, and solutions required for mammalian cell culture and bioreactor operations.
- Data Management
- Accurately document and transfer experimental data into appropriate databases.
- Lab Maintenance
- Perform daily and monthly laboratory maintenance, including cleaning biological safety cabinets and incubators.
- Conduct daily equipment calibrations to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and fundamental laboratory skills, including accurate pipetting.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, including work in a laminar flow hood.
- Familiarity with analytical methods related to cell culture processes.
- Ability to prepare media and solutions for mammalian cell culture.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field required.
- Advanced degree preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check
- Work schedule is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Flexibility is required, including availability for occasional evening, weekend, and off-hours work.
Pay Rate/Salary
- Estimated Salary: $40.94 to $48.94 per hour based on qualifications.
