Interior Designer

Job Description

The Interior Designer will join a Living Design team focused on Multi-Family, Active Adult, and Hospitality projects, leading work primarily from schematic design through construction documentation. This role drives the interior design vision, coordinates closely with project teams, and ensures that every project achieves a high level of finish suitable for publication and design awards. The Interior Designer will balance strong conceptual design, technical documentation, and client-facing presentation skills while managing multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of interior projects from concept through completion, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.

  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand their requirements, objectives, and brand identity, and translate these into innovative design solutions.

  • Develop comprehensive design concepts, including space planning, furniture layouts, material and finish selection, color palettes, and lighting design.

  • Produce detailed construction documents, including drawings, interior details, specifications, and schedules, in alignment with industry standards and applicable regulations.

  • Create and coordinate complex finish packages and specifications that elevate the overall design and support award-winning, publication-ready projects.

  • Conduct site visits to monitor project progress, provide design direction, and address on-site challenges or required design modifications.

  • Participate in construction administration activities, including site observations, punch lists, and FF&E installations, to ensure design intent is realized.

  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless execution of the design vision.

  • Apply strong understanding of engineering coordination to facilitate how projects work holistically and to resolve technical issues.

  • Utilize Revit and other design tools to develop accurate 3D documentation and visualizations for internal review and client presentations.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative materials, and integrate these into design concepts and solutions.

  • Manage multiple projects at once, prioritizing tasks, resources, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent project turnover.

  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations that clearly communicate design concepts, narratives, and solutions to clients and internal teams.

  • Contribute to a culture of design excellence by pushing for higher levels of finish, creativity, and innovation on every project.

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen by understanding project constraints, knowing when to advocate for design decisions, and when to adapt based on client and project needs.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Interior Design.

  • 8-10 years of professional interior design experience.

  • Proven experience with living-focused projects, Multi-Family, Active Adult, and Hospitality.

  • Strong conceptual and creative thinking abilities with a demonstrated track record of developing innovative design solutions.

  • Thorough expertise in 3D Revit documentation for interior projects.

  • Proficiency in producing detailed construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.

  • Ability to visualize and mentally picture spaces, rooms, and complete projects in detail.

  • Strong understanding of how projects work from a technical and coordination standpoint, including fluency in collaborating with engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts to clients and internal teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong voice and confidence in communicating ideas, coupled with the judgment to know when to advocate and when to listen.

  • High level of attention to detail, especially in developing complex finish packages and specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with 360 BIM workflows is a plus.

  • Experience using InDesign for presentations and documentation is a plus.

  • Experience using Enscape or similar rendering tools for visualizations is a plus.

  • NCIDQ certification, or progress toward it, is a plus.

  • WELL Accreditation, or progress toward it, is a plus.

  • Experience creating rendering and visualization materials for client presentations.

  • Familiarity with FF&E selection, specifications, and installation coordination.

  • Experienced in architecture or close collaboration with architectural teams is beneficial.

  • Interest in staying current with design trends, materials, and technologies, and engaging in industry networking and education.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly, change gears as project needs shift, and remain effective under tight deadlines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Penn Wynne, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.98 - $41.35/hr.
