The Bucks County Beacon is an independent media outlet producing fearless, fact-based journalism. We are committed to reporting the stories that other local media outlets can’t or don’t cover, especially the growing threat of extremism and disinformation to our schools, government, and democracy.

We are building a sustainable, reader-supported news organization to fill the local information gap, rooted in transparency and community accountability.

Beat: Education reporter in Lower Bucks County

Position:

Bucks County has 13 school districts and a stark disparity in educational outcomes on the basis of race, economic mobility and parental political capital. An education beat reporter will shape public understanding of the education system with a particular emphasis on Lower Bucks County. Their work will spotlight inequities, amplify underrepresented voices and directly impact students, families and communities.

Salary and Benefits: $50,000

The corps member will receive comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage, short-term disability, long-term disability, life-insurance, paid holidays and unlimited PTO.
