Material Handler I

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Material Handler to work as a contractor for 12 months for one of our large manufacturing clients. This individual will support production and operations by receiving, moving, staging, kitting, and shipping materials throughout the facility while maintaining accurate inventory records within an ERP system. Responsibilities include verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, inspecting materials for quality and accuracy, preparing and packaging items for shipment, coordinating shipping methods and carriers, and routing materials to internal departments and kanban areas. The Material Handler will participate in inventory counts and reconciliation, maintain shipping materials and supplies, and safely operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment while adhering to all safety protocols. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with prior material handling or logistics experience preferred, along with strong attention to detail and the physical ability to perform the role.

Skills and Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

  • Prior production, material handling, or inventory control experience preferred

  • Forklift certification

  • Crane certification

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP experience is a plus)

  • Ability to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, and dimensions of packaged equipment or components

  • Ability to learn and follow established departmental policies, procedures, and practices

  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to complete tasks independently and follow through on outcomes

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to effectively interact with internal customers, including production teams, engineers, and management personnel
