Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Job Title: Locum Tenens Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – NICU/Pediatrics
• Location: New Haven, CT 06510 (Connecticut healthcare jobs)
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel contract)
• Facility: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
• Unit: Respiratory Therapy (NICU/Pediatrics, occasional adult coverage)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/13/2025 – End: 1/12/2026)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Float between York St Campus & Saint Raphael Campus (shuttle available)
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2130–$2190

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent RRT experience in NICU/Pediatrics (required)
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential and Connecticut state license (must apply prior to submission)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS
• Experience with trauma and adult critical care ventilators required
• Preferred: ECMO and extracorporeal experience; proficiency with Drager and Hamilton C6 ventilators
• Ability to float between campuses as needed
• Local candidates (within 75 miles) not accepted
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• One professional reference required

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy to neonates, pediatrics, and adults in a Level I Trauma Center
• Assist in high-risk deliveries and deliver critical care in NICU and pediatric units
• Float between York St and Saint Raphael campuses as assigned
• Operate and troubleshoot advanced ventilators and respiratory equipment (Drager, Hamilton C6, ECMO)
• Perform aerosol therapy, airway management, extubation, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
• Interpret arterial blood gases and participate in emergency response situations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care
• Document care using the Epic electronic medical record system
