FSQA Technician
Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Technician supports daily operations by monitoring product quality, verifying process accuracy, and ensuring compliance with established food safety standards. This role plays a central part in testing, documentation, internal audits, and maintaining product integrity from start to finish.
Schedule
- 2nd Shift: 1:30 PM - 10:30 PM ( Monday - Friday)
- 3rd Shift: 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM (Sunday-Thursday)
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, evaluate, and document product samples according to established requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of all testing and analytical findings; immediately report any deviations to the QA Supervisor.
- Track, organize, and communicate data trends to leadership.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and participate in investigations related to product concerns or non-conformance issues.
- Assist with internal audits and support audit readiness across the facility.
- Host visitors, including customer representatives and regulatory auditors, ensuring compliance and professionalism.
- Verify that products are processed in alignment with HACCP, HARPC, and internal food safety programs.
- Report any potential food safety issues without delay.
- Support corrective action processes and contribute to updates or improvements within the food safety system.
- Assist with the creation, review, and maintenance of SOPs, food safety documentation, and other controlled records.
- Demonstrate initiative, strong follow-through, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and prioritize daily tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and adhere to facility safety expectations.
- Uphold excellent attendance and reliability.
- Complete additional tasks as needed to support the QA department.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Certifications in SQF, HACCP, and GMP strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Word and Excel.
- Strong ability to plan ahead, organize tasks, and manage short-term project timelines.
- Capable of providing direction, offering feedback, and contributing to team performance when needed.
- Balanced approach to maintaining safety, quality, efficiency, and communication.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly share information related to food safety and quality standards.
- High attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Willingness to adjust work schedule based on operational demands.
- Effective interpersonal skills when dealing with internal teams or external visitors.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work will be performed in both an office setting and on the production floor, which is a cold, wet environment maintained at approximately 35°F.
- Must be comfortable working in refrigerated conditions for extended periods.
- Role involves standing for long periods, repetitive bending, and frequent lifting of 10-35 lbs., with occasional lifting up to 45 lbs.
- Certain areas may require pushing or pulling up to 250 lbs. on rollers.
