Job Summary: Provide assistance to the ESL students with listening, speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension under the guidance of the ESL Teacher.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers with creating new student files, providing informal testing and assessments, and gathering and preparing instructional materials.
• Assist with daily student work for all six levels of English proficiency.
• Provide support to the ESL student and the classroom teacher and reinforce class content information to the ESL student by tutoring the EL in content areas using ESL strategies as directed by the ESL or classroom teacher.
• Attend faculty meetings, ESL in-service or conferences and workshops as requested by the principal.
• Reinforce classroom teacher instructions.
• Assist in the areas of testing as permitted to do so as a highly qualified ESL aide including the Woodcock-Muñoz test, the WIDA Access test, the PSSA tests, Keystone tests, and final exams. (Online certifications required for testing)
• Perform other clerical, tutorial, supportive duties as assigned by the Principal, ELD Department Supervisor, and/or ESL Teacher.

Position Information:

• Full-time
• Range 8, Starting Salary $14.12 per hour
• 7 hours/day, 5 days/week, 180 days/year

Minimum Qualifications:

• Some experience in public education
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Cultural awareness of students and families from other countries

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in instructional support to secondary level students
• Coursework or experience with ELL population
• Experience with tutoring and working with students and families from other countries
