Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Weekday Schedule | $16.50–$18/hr | Mercer, PA

Abound Health is seeking a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional to support an adult living at home with family in Mercer, PA . This individual has a friendly, social personality and enjoys having supportive people around throughout the day.

About the Individual

The person receiving services has low behavioral needs but requires high personal-care support and substantial lifting assistance due to being non-ambulatory. They use a wheelchair for all mobility and need full support with transfers and frequent repositioning throughout the day.

Communication is limited to a few words and phrases used to express basic needs, such as wanting music or a drink.

Feeding & Mealtime Support

The individual is considered a high choking risk and requires:

• Ground or puréed meals
• Close monitoring during all meals
• Prompting to chew and swallow
• Gentle jaw massage to assist with chewing
• Encouragement when resistant to eating

Home Environment

There are pets in the home , so caregivers must be comfortable working around animals.

Schedule

Monday: 9:45 AM – 4:00 PM

Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Wednesday: 9:45 AM – 4:00 PM

Thursday: 9:45 AM – 4:00 PM

Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay Rate

$16.50 – $18.00 per hour
(Based on experience)

Responsibilities

• Provide full assistance with all ADLs (feeding, hygiene, dressing, toileting)
• Perform safe transfers and frequent repositioning
• Monitor closely during meals to ensure safety
• Support mobility using wheelchair equipment
• Offer companionship and social engagement
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment

Signing Bonus

Earn up to $1,000 in bonuses:

• $333 after 90 days (minimum 20 hrs/week)
• $333 after 6 months (minimum 20 hrs/week)
• $334 after 1 year (minimum 20 hrs/week)

Bonus not available for Residential Services or Relative as Provider (RAP) hires. Applicants must not have worked for Abound Health or its affiliates within the past 18 months.
