Laborer

Metalico is an essential scrap-metal recycling business looking for a Production Worker in our Warehouse and Yard to buy material from the public and process it.

The main essential job functions include:

• Identify and sort ferrous and non-ferrous metals, inspect, weigh, and categorize scrap metal by grade into appropriate areas.
• Ability to identify material being hauled.
• Attention to detail in identifying metals by visual recognition and other methods- will provide training but one must be a quick learner.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• General labor duties will be required to be performed.
• Draining fluids from the vehicles.
• Removing the tires.
• Cutting any lines, straps, or hoses, connected to the gas tank.
• Removing the battery.
• Perform other tasks as assigned or requested by Management.

Job Requirements:

• Forklift operator experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Identify, hand sort, and unload metal material by different commodity types.
• Use mechanized equipment to sort and/or break down material per customer requirements.
• Sweeping and general housekeeping clean-up duties. Maintaining an organized clean area.
• Comply with Metalico company policies and OSHA safety procedures.
• Expected to wear PPE (Protective Personal Equipment) when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Effective communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Basic mathematical and computer skills are required.
• Knowledge of ferrous and Non-Ferrous materials is a plus.
• High School Diploma.

Work Hours:

• Monday through Friday with a 40+ hour workweek.
• Overtime and Saturdays will be required as scheduled.
