As a Wild Experience Guide at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, you are the heartbeat of the guest experience! Whether you’re operating attractions, leading tours, assisting with ticket sales, or helping visitors navigate their adventure, your enthusiasm and professionalism ensure every guest has an unforgettable day. You are the face of the Zoo, setting the standard for exceptional service, safety, and fun!

• Guest Experience Guru – Greet visitors with energy and enthusiasm, answer questions, and create a welcoming environment that makes every guest feel valued. Provide directions, recommendations, and general Zoo knowledge to enhance their experience.

• Ticketing & Admissions Ace – Sell and validate tickets for admission, carousel, tram, and other attractions while keeping accurate attendance records. Ensure guests understand their ticketing options and provide assistance with purchases and Zoo membership inquiries.

• Attractions Operator Extraordinaire – Safely operate and monitor the carousel, tram, Butterfly House , and more ensuring they function at peak performance. Follow all safety procedures and engage guests with fun, informative interactions to enhance their experience.

• Adventure Navigator – Guide guests through Wild Encounter Tours , sharing fascinating insights about animals, conservation efforts, and the Zoo’s mission. Turn every tour into a memorable and educational experience.

• Safety & First Aid Responder – Act as a first line of response in emergencies, assisting guests and team members in medical situations and other urgent matters while following all Zoo safety protocols.

• Lost & Found Liaison – Assist guests in locating misplaced items and manage the Lost & Found process with care and professionalism.

• Reunification Hero – Ensure lost children or separated guests are safely and quickly reunited with their families or groups, following established safety procedures.

• Crowd Control Commander – Keep special events, high-traffic areas, and busy attractions running smoothly. Direct foot traffic, maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, and assist in organizing queues and guest flow.

• Zoo Insider – Stay up-to-date on Zoo happenings, exhibits, and special events so you can answer guest questions and provide the best recommendations for an unforgettable visit.

• Problem-Solving Pro – Address guest concerns with professionalism and a positive attitude. Find creative solutions to enhance their experience and ensure they leave with great memories.

• Team Player & Communication Specialist – Work closely with fellow staff, security, and managers to provide seamless guest service. Communicate any issues that could impact the visitor experience and contribute to a collaborative work environment.

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be available at least one weekend day per week ; some holidays and evening events may be required.
• A passion for working with people and creating outstanding guest experiences.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to follow instructions, enforce safety guidelines, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to keeping the Zoo running at its best.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
