DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) - AWAKE OVERNIGHT
Location: Penn Hills, PA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule:
Sunday: 11:00 PM to 8:45 AM
Monday: 10:00 PM to 8:45 AM
Tuesday: 10:00 PM to 8:45 AM
Wednesday: 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
About Tutelage Residential Services
Tutelage Residential Services is a community-based provider supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in residential settings throughout Allegheny County. We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and professional Direct Support Professional to join our awake overnight team.
This position is ideal for someone who is patient, reliable, and committed to helping others live meaningful and independent lives. Overnight shifts are generally low-stress and provide an opportunity to build positive relationships while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals we support.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment during overnight hours
- Provide person-centered support based on each individual's needs, outcome, and preferences
- Assist with daily living activities as needed
- Administer medications according to agency policies and procedures
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time
- Perform routine safety checks and ensure the home remains clean and organized
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills
- Assist with meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation, and community participation when needed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure continuity of care
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established agency procedures
Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- One year of experience in human services, healthcare, caregiving, or a related field preferred
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- Ability to pass all required background checks, physical examination, and TB screening
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and assist with mobility needs when necessary
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Dependable attendance and a commitment to providing high-quality support
