Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg position on the 8th floor of a Level I Trauma Center, requiring night shift availability and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

• Night shift position, 6:45 PM to 6:45 AM (12-hour shifts)
• 13-week contract with 36 hours per week
• Neuro Med/Surg unit (8 Rose) in a Level I Trauma Center and tertiary care regional referral hospital
• Adult patient population with common diagnoses including CVA, TIA, seizure, inability to ambulate, urinary and respiratory conditions, and occasional cardiac cases
• 22-bed unit with a 5:1 to 6:1 patient ratio
• Equipment includes Mindray vital sign machines, GE EKG, and cardiac monitors
• EHR: Epic
• Every other weekend required; straight weekend scheduling available if preferred
• Floating may be required on rare occasions
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage required as determined during phone screening

Requirements

• Active PA RN license or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA certifications required (must be American Heart Association-issued)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Swallow Screen experience preferred; neuro background is ideal
• Competency in dysrhythmia recognition required — a dysrhythmia and medication math dosage test will be administered on the first day of orientation
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• All Pennsylvania state clearances must be completed and submitted before clearance can be granted (PA Child Abuse History Clearance, DHS Fingerprinting, FBI Dept of Aging Fingerprinting, and PA State Police/PATCH clearance)
• Drug screen completed within the last 90 days is acceptable
• MMR declinations are not accepted

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
• Orientation is held weekly on Mondays; a study guide and welcome packet will be provided in advance to help prepare for day-one testing
• Scrub color is open; hoodies, t-shirts, shirts with wording or graphics, and facial piercings are not permitted
• The facility is part of a health system offering a wide range of specialties including Level I Trauma, Level 3 Regional Intensive Care Nursery, high-risk OB, neurology, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, and more
