Aon Is Looking For An Underwriting Referral and Claim Specialist!
This is an exciting opportunity for an Operations Specialist II, who will report directly to the Assistant Vice President to handle Underwriting Referrals and Claim support activities for the Aon Allied Healthcare Individual program. This is a Hybrid position (2 days a week in office) located in Fort Washington, PA office.
The Healthcare Allied Individual program:
- Insures over 1.05M individual customers
- Drives over $178M in premium with 9% growth
- Generates $80M in revenue with 10% growth
- Program operates at a 45% margin
Job Responsibilities:
- Review of new business and renewal submissions that do not meet standard underwriting criteria to develop creative solutions to meet program eligibility and establish rating
- Prepare in-house and carrier referrals
- Manage conditional and non-renewal pending accounts
- Interact with clients and carrier partner in writing and by phone
- Identify trends and develop proposals for expansion of in-house underwriting authority
- Act as Underwriting resource for Healthcare Contact Center and Email/Correspondence teams
- Responsible for sending 1st Report of Claims to carrier partner for Healthcare Individual and Healthcare Dental Clients
- Work with carrier partner adjusters to assist with requests for policy documents and additional information
- Act as Claim Resource for Healthcare Contact Center and Email/Correspondence Teams
- Special projects as assigned
You Bring Knowledge and Expertise
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry
- Demonstrated use of good judgment skills with proven decision-making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and independently prioritize work
- Independent problem-solving skills
- Strong PC skills – comfortable with technology and experience in Word and Excel
- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and customer service focus
Preferred experience:
- Underwriting and/or claims experience preferred
- Property and Casualty license preferred. Required to obtain the P&C license within 6 months of hire date
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $57,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
