Barista (Full-Time)

Fallingwater , a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, designated as a National Historic Landmark and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is seeking a full-time Barista for the Fallingwater Cafe’.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Barista supports daily Fallingwater Café operations by providing excellent customer service, curating espresso beverages, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation of items offered in the Café.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential or Marginal):

E Always provides exceptional and welcoming customer service, and exhibits professionalism in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

E Crafts and serves espresso beverages that meet the established quality and presentation standards. Follows recipes, serving sizes, and maintains consistency.

E Prepares the front-of-house for daily operations, including stocking, organizing, and maintaining service areas.

E Maintains the Fallingwater Café’s grab and go and merchandise offerings, which includes restocking and upholding presentation standards.

E Opens and closes the Cafe’ according to established procedures. Ensures readiness for service, and completes end of shift cleaning and closing duties.

E Operates the POS system, processes transactions, and properly applies gift cards, vouchers, and applicable discounts for guests, volunteers, and employees.

E Follows policies and procedures for cash handling and balances in POS system.

E Monitors Café inventory levels and communicates restocking needs to supervisors.

E Maintains cleanliness and organization of all Fallingwater Cafe’ spaces, equipment, and storage areas throughout the shift.

E Follows all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control guidelines.

E Assists with receiving, rotating, and storing products in the Fallingwater Café using proper inventory practices.

E Supports the Conservancy’s cost containment and sustainability efforts, as applicable.

E Collaborates with Kitchen and Café staff to support smooth daily operations.

M Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

Prior barista experience in a coffee shop or café is preferred.

Strong time management, attention to detail and consistency standards.

Prior customer service experience is preferred.

Knowledge of food safety, storage, sanitation practices, and government regulations preferred.

Must be able to work early mornings, weekends and holidays and be flexible with schedule and hours.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work efficiently in a structured environment required.

· Must be able to stand up to 8 hours.

· Must be able to bend, move, and lift up to 40lbs.

· Ability to work with dangerous equipment; including knives, slicers, and ovens.

· Frequent bending and stooping.

· Work in a hot environment, sometimes with with/near open flame.

Location: The position is based at Fallingwater in Mill Run, PA.

Starting Rate: 17.60 per hour
