Director of Safety - National Construction (Remote w/ Travel)
Job Description
Job Description
About Safety Development Group
Safety Development Group (SDG) is a growing national safety management and consulting firm supporting large-scale industrial and warehouse construction projects, including major Amazon retrofit and expansion programs.
We provide Site Safety & Health Officers (SSHOs), safety program management, audit oversight, and executive-level compliance strategy for high-profile contractors across the U.S.
We are seeking a Director of Safety to provide multi-site leadership and help scale our national safety operations.
Position Overview
The Director of Safety will provide strategic oversight across multiple active construction projects nationwide. This is a remote-based leadership role requiring travel approximately 10–15 days per month.
When not traveling, this position operates with a high level of autonomy. The Director will manage their own schedule and workflow to ensure project oversight, compliance standards, and field team support are consistently executed.
This is a results-driven leadership role — autonomy with accountability.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee multiple Site Safety & Health Officers across active projects
• Ensure compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1926) and client-specific standards (including Amazon programs)
• Conduct executive-level safety reviews with clients
• Support project mobilizations and safety planning
• Review incident investigations and corrective actions
• Mentor and develop field safety personnel
• Standardize reporting and internal safety systems
• Support audit preparation and compliance submissions (BOLT, Avetta, ISN, etc.)
• Collaborate with leadership to protect margin and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
• OSHA 500 (Construction Outreach Trainer)
• BCSP Certification (CHST, STSC, or CSP)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field with GSP designation
Additionally:
• 7+ years construction safety experience
• 3+ years in leadership or multi-site oversight
• Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
• Experience in industrial / warehouse / large-scale retrofit environments
• Amazon construction safety familiarity strongly preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel nationally 10–15 days per month
Schedule & Flexibility
• Travel required approximately 10–15 days per month (travel expenses covered)
• Remote when not traveling
• Self-managed schedule outside of required meetings and travel
• Performance-based expectations
This role is ideal for a disciplined professional who values independence and leadership responsibility.
Compensation & Benefits
• $90,000 – $110,000 annual salary (based on experience)
• Travel expenses covered
• Remote flexibility
• Leadership growth opportunity
• National project exposure
Why Join SDG?
We are building a national safety management platform — not just staffing positions.
If you want executive-level impact, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence safety culture across multiple projects, this role offers that platform.
