Incoming Inspector Leader

Alstom
West Mifflin, PA

The Role

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility solutions, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener, smarter mobility worldwide—connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

We are seeking an Incoming Inspection Leader who will ensure that purchased parts and products delivered to Alstom facilities meet our high standards. This individual will lead incoming inspection activities, manage the inspection team, and uphold product compliance before parts enter production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the team of Incoming Inspectors, ensuring inspections are performed in accordance with the Incoming Control Plan.

  • Ensure appropriate control keys and sampling rules are implemented and maintained in the ERP system.

  • Define inspection instructions and checklists and ensure they are available and up to date.

  • Establish and maintain processes for storing records at Incoming Inspection.

  • Ensure Incoming Inspectors comply with inspection procedures, tool calibration, record storage, NCR characterization, and ERP transactions.

  • Initiate external special-process inspections or outside lab testing when required.

  • Ensure when non-conformities (NCRs) are detected at incoming or on production lines that control plans are modified accordingly.

  • Inform SQ Serial and Supply Chain teams of defects detected at Incoming and any impacts on part availability.

  • Schedule daily meetings to align priorities and manage the daily workload of the Incoming Inspection team.

  • Maintain and publish KPIs; identify performance improvement opportunities.

  • Manage team competencies via a skills matrix; identify training needs and schedule development.

Performance Metrics

  • Complete inspections within the allocated target lead times; priority inspections are completed on time.

  • Accuracy in defect characterization in NCRs and execution of related ERP tasks (including inventory blocking).

  • Implementation and monitoring of continuous improvement actions, with a measurable downward trend in the quantity of non-functional NCRs detected after incoming inspection during production cycle.
