Director of recreation

The Southern York County Regional Recreation Commission (SYCRRC) is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Director of Recreation to lead our young and evolving organization into its next phase.

Following the successful launch of the Commission and its first 18 months of operation, we are looking for a new leader to build on this foundation and help shape a robust and inclusive recreational future for Southern York County.

The Director of Recreation is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing a diverse portfolio of recreational programs and events for all ages and interests — from sports and wellness to arts and cultural activities. This role also involves managing parks and recreation facilities, collaborating with local municipalities, and guiding both short- and long-term planning efforts to support the growth and sustainability of regional recreation.

Key responsibilities include program development and coordination, facility oversight, budget administration, and community outreach. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, an effective administrator, and a passionate advocate for the role of recreation in enhancing quality of life.

A degree in recreation or leisure management—or equivalent experience—is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required, and candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
