Professional Staff Nurse - 5F Trauma Burn Acute Care
UPMC Mercy is currently hiring a full-time Professional Staff Nurse to support its 5F Trauma Burn Acute Care unit! Those with 6 months to 1 year of nursing experience are strongly preferred.
5F is a 16-bed, private-room, Trauma Burn Acute Care unit dedicated to caring for patients with burn injuries, minor traumatic injuries, such as penetrating wounds, and select medical-surgical conditions. The unit works in close collaboration with the Emergency Department and Trauma Burn ICU, ensuring seamless continuity of care for patients transitioning from critical to acute levels of treatment.
This specialized, fast-paced unit is staffed by highly skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals who are comfortable working autonomously while also valuing collaboration within an interdisciplinary team. Nurses on 5F are encouraged to use strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and independent decision-making to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care to a complex patient population.

The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Professional Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
A Professional Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care and possess authority and accountability for its provision. At all times, you will exemplify a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.
