Summary of Responsibilities:

The Activities Aide plays an essential role in creating a vibrant, engaging, and meaningful lifestyle for our residents. Through creativity, compassion, and enthusiasm, you'll help plan and lead activities that encourage socialization, physical wellness, cognitive stimulation, and personal fulfillment. Working closely with the Resident Care Director and care team, you'll foster an environment where every resident feels valued, included, and encouraged to live each day to the fullest. Essential Functions/ Duties:

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and implement daily activity programs, including group and individual activities, both within the community and through external outings.
  • Encourage and assist residents in participating in activities that support social, physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.
  • Lead and facilitate activities throughout the day and evening to ensure consistent engagement opportunities.
  • Provide individualized, one-on-one engagement for residents who are unable or unwilling to participate in group activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs of residents with cognitive or physical limitations, including those with dementia.
  • Assist residents with care and support needs during activities and throughout the day, including escorting, cueing, and providing hands-on assistance as appropriate.
  • Support mealtime routines by escorting residents to and from the dining room and assisting as needed to ensure a positive and dignified dining experience.
  • Observe resident participation and behaviors; promptly report changes in mood, condition, or functioning to the Activities Manager or appropriate staff.
  • Document resident participation, attendance, and responses to activities in accordance with community policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support resident care plans and engagement goals.
  • Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and spaces to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and emergency procedures during activities and use of shared materials.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and engaging environment consistent with resident rights and personal care philosophy.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time or full-time, based on community needs
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Requirements:

Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a team environment.
  • Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills when working with residents, families, and staff.
  • Ability to adapt to changing resident needs and priorities.
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with older adults, activities programming, caregiving, or a related field (Preferred)

Work Authorization/ Clearances:

  • Criminal History Clearances
  • FBI fingerprint clearance (if required)
  • Pre-employment drug screening (if applicable)
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

Physical Requirements and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the community for extended periods
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility, including light lifting, guiding, or supporting as needed
  • Ability to lift and carry activity supplies and equipment (up to approximately 25 pounds)
  • Ability to push wheelchairs and assist with resident transport
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, including those with cognitive or sensory impairments
