• Setting: Cardiac Open Heart Surgery (CVOR) / Cardiothoracic OR
• Start Date: March 30, 2026
• End Date: May 25, 2026
• Duration: 8 weeks
• Shift: Days, Monday–Friday, 06:45 – 15:15 (40 hours/week)
• Call Requirements: Every 3rd day and at least 1–2 weekends per month
• Floating: May assist in General OR when no CVOR cases (OR nurse/flexible perioperative coverage)
• COVID-19 & Flu Vaccines: Required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Facility: Tobacco- and fragrance-free environment

Qualifications & Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR / cardiothoracic OR nursing experience (cardiac surgery nurse)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (no license hits accepted)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or ARC only)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with cardiac procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and MAZE
• Strong knowledge of infection control, specimen handling, universal protocol, and wound management
• Ability to take call as scheduled and work occasional weekends/holidays as needed
• Must be able to care for adult and geriatric patients, including potential COVID-19 cases
• Completion of pre-start modules (5–6 hours, billable)

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of cardiac surgical procedures in the CVOR (perioperative nursing, circulator/scrub support)
• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, including pre-op assessment, intra-op support, documentation, and post-op monitoring
• Support the surgical team during advanced procedures such as CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and MAZE
• Maintain strict adherence to safety and compliance protocols, including fire, laser, and radiation safety
• Administer and monitor blood products; manage surgical wound care and drains as needed
• Float to General OR when there are no CVOR cases to provide flexible OR nurse coverage
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to emergent cases
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, and Pharmacy
