Who we are: The Point Breeze Community Market is an independent farmers market in South Philly that was created to improve access to locally grown food, support small businesses, build our commercial corridor on Point Breeze Ave, and create a shared space that welcomes the wide diversity of our neighborhood.

This is our second full year of operation since starting in the Fall of 2024. We are specifically looking to grow our essential food offerings to deliver a "grocery store on the street" experience. The Market itself was started by The Point Breeze Business Association, a local non-profit made up of business owners in Point Breeze. We’re a small team working together to hone and refine our systems.

Thursdays are our favorite day in Point Breeze because it brings all of our favorite people together. And we’re looking for someone who fits with our community, wants to build on what we’ve built, and grow the market to welcome more and more people to Thursdays in Point Breeze.

The Role:

The Market Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and day-to-day operations of our community-focused farmers market. The Market Manager serves as the primary liaison between farmers, vendors, customers, community partners, and city stakeholders. The role combines community engagement, logistical coordination, administrative oversight, and values-driven leadership. The market itself is rain or shine, and requires the same from it's manager.

The Market Manager is an employee of the Point Breeze Community Market (PBCM) and the PBBA Inc. (Point Breeze Business Association). This role operates with meaningful autonomy but is accountable to the PBBA Executive Board, who steward the vision, strategy, and fiduciary health of the market.

Our season is currently weekly, April through October, and is monthly, November to March. The role is scoped for 25-30 hours/week at $23/hour. Market Managers are required on-site for market days on Thursday, hanging street closures on Tuesday (per Streets Dept. guidelines), and maintaining equipment. All other work can be done remotely. The hourly weekly target is 25 hours. Hours and scope may shift to 28-30 hours with specific events, vendor turnover, and seasonal needs. The PBBA leadership team will help guide focus as needed.

  • Oversee and distribute scrip and EBT or SNAP as needed

  • Recruit and onboard farmers and vendors in alignment with market guidelines and market goals
  • Track market finances and maintain basic operational records
  • Collaborate closely with PBBA leadership, partners, and contractors to support communications, sponsorships, and special programming
  • Support content planning and execution for the website, social media, and newsletter.
  • Support special events, cooking demonstrations, food education, and community programming.
  • Coordinate contractors, volunteers, or PBBA staff
  • Coordinate with city agencies, neighborhood organizations, and community partners as part of a shared relationship-management effort.
