Field Service Technician (PA, NY, NJ, OH, or VA)
Position Overview
Field Service Technician role provides advanced technical support to customers and engineers—on-site, in the field, or virtually—across a range of complex tasks. Technicians are responsible for collecting, formatting, and analyzing technical data to support the repair and maintenance of power electronic equipment. *This is a fully remote position but must reside in PA, NY, NJ, OH, or VA.
*Must be willing to travel up to 100% nationwide based on customer support needs. Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to install, maintain, repair, overhaul, troubleshoot, modify, and test electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment using various diagnostic tools.
- Diagnose issues and perform necessary adjustments, part replacements, component repairs.
- Provide technical support to engineers in the field or on-site for complex service tasks.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors while delivering high-quality technical service. - Collect, organize, and analyze technical data such as lab results, material tests, and engineering design changes.
Generate engineering documentation, reports, and drawings, conduct tests and record findings. - Perform calculations and interpret results to support service decisions.
- Read and interpret general electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Apply broad technical knowledge of electronic principles to restore equipment functionality and resolve issues.
- Follow all company and industry safety standards and policies.
- Complete other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Engineering degree
- 5+ years of field service experience in both electrical and mechanical domains
- Must be a “Road Warrior”—willing and able to travel 100%
- Demonstrated expertise in servicing and troubleshooting power electronic systems, including low and medium voltage switchgear, soft starters, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Proven proficiency in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting electrical and power electronic equipment.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours as needed to support urgent customer requirements
