Job Description: Entry-Level Accountant I

Position Summary:

We are seeking an entry-level Accountant I to join our team in Fox Chapel on a contract-to-hire basis. This position supports the organization's financial operations by focusing on financial reporting, account reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to ensuring accurate financial transactions. This is a 40-hour-per-week role with free on-site parking and business casual attire.

Responsibilities:

General Ledger and Reconciliation:

• Prepare and post journal entries in alignment with GAAP principles.
• Reconcile bank accounts, and asset, liability, and net asset accounts on a monthly basis.
• Assist with the maintenance of the Property, Plant, and Equipment (Fixed Asset) Ledger.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Provide assistance with accounts payable and payroll processes.
• Support accounts receivable functions, including tracking payments and invoicing for certain program services.
• Track and record credit card activity in the general ledger on a monthly basis.

Reporting and Analysis:

• Assist with grant and contract reporting.
• Provide monthly financial reports regarding restricted and board-designated net assets.
• Prepare special analyses and reports as requested by Finance Department leadership.
• Participate in the monthly and year-end closing processes successfully.

Other Duties:

• Prepare data for county contracts and billing for services under county agreements.
• Assist with payroll and benefits analysis entries.
• Collaborate on accounting tasks and initiatives across departments.
• Offer support for affiliated and umbrella organizations, including HUD corporations.
• Collect and organize relevant data from agency programs effectively.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Familiarity with accounting principles and practices, including U.S. GAAP.
• Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in Microsoft Dynamics Navigator preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members.
• Prior experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations is a plus.
• Must pass required background checks and clearances before starting.
