Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company is hiring a Director of Transportation on a remote basis. In this role you will have experience in the one or more of the following areas: Global Transportation organization/ Global Transportation Strategy / Transportation organization, in defining and implementing Supply Chain Transportation standards and guidelines in area of responsibility.

**This position is designed to be performed on a remote basis within USA timezones**

What You Will Do

  • Organize the Transportation team to effectively support the needs of the company by developing skilled logisticians and creating a strong talent pipeline. Ensure talent growth within critical roles to meet the current and future needs of the organization.
  • Set and build transportation capabilities that drive consistent performance across the geos and scale efficiently in growth markets focused on transparency and predictability in support of regional logistics teams and their internal customers. Capabilities include, but are not limited to, carriers, brokers, TMS and FA&P providers.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs, tariffs, and export controls.
  • Actively liaise with external agencies, Global Trade, regional Logistics and order management teams.
  • Ensure transportation and duty expenses are accurately reported monthly through controlled audit and pay processes.
  • Develop and manage activity based transportation & duty projections for monthly forecasting & actual reflection. Lead annual budget setting for global transportation and duty spend.
  • Adhere to best business practices in export and import operations, DG handling, shipping document presentation, and cost containment strategies.
  • Evaluate performance metrics, analyze data, identify opportunities, and drive the realization of the improvement.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Regional Logistics and Field Operations teams to drive system and operational improvements that will improve delivery performance and/or lower logistics costs as a percentage of revenue.
  • Align upstream with supply chain to ensure that materials and sub-assemblies from our supply base are delivered on time and in the accurate quantity to our factories and regional distribution facilities.
  • Work closely with indirect procurement to implement long term solutions with strategic logistics suppliers that both optimize performance and drive costs savings for the organization.
  • Actively lead and support cross functional efforts of continuous improvement in alignment with strategic objectives and expectations from stakeholders. Achieve 6% YoY cost reduction productivity targets.
  • Develop, leverage, and share documented quality procedures and "best practice" methodologies across the Siemens Healthineers distribution network to drive continuous improvements in all aspects of distribution and order fulfilment operations.

What You Will Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation or logistics management
  • Proven track record managing transportation/logistics operations on a global scale
  • KPI oriented management with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and systems
  • Experience implementing and managing freight audit and pay solutions.
  • Proficiency with SAP or equivalent ERP products including B2B integrations with logistics providers.
  • Experience in budget management and financial planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people in all regions and time zones.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Project management experience leading large cross functional initiatives
  • Knowledge of safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make quick decisions.
  • Strong customer service orientation and conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with latest industry trends and technological advancements
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

The Base Pay Range For This Position Is

$181,310 - $249,304

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.

The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan. life insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, paid parking/public transportation, paid time off, paid sick and safe time.
