Reports To: Site Supervisor / Program Director
Employment Type: Part-Time 30 hours (School Year), Full-Time (Summer)
Pay: $22.50-$25.00 per hour
Position Overview:
Were seeking a dynamic and reliable Group Leader to join our Out-of-School Time (OST) team, working with youth during the school year after-school program and our full-day summer camp. This position is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, creative programming, and building strong relationships with students in a fun, structured environment. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in a childcare or educational setting and possess a bachelors degree in child development or a related field. This role will be responsible for managing a team of after-school staff, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children, and providing support to program participants to foster their growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
During the School Year (Afternoon Hours):
- Supervise and manage a team of after-school staff, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
-Meet all Scope of Work Compliance requirements in various areas such as DHS, PHMC and Philadelphia School District.
-Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate activities that support the social, emotional, and academic development of children.
-Monitor the safety and well-being of all children, ensuring they are properly always supervised.
-Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff to create a collaborative and supportive environment.
-Assist in the development of behavior management strategies to ensure a positive and respectful atmosphere.
-Maintain accurate records of attendance, incident reports, and any other required documentation.
-Communicate regularly with parents regarding their childs progress, behavior, and any concerns.
-Ensure compliance with all local, state, and program policies and regulations.
-Collaborate with other staff members to create and implement enrichment programs, special events, and field trips.
During Summer Camp (Full-Day Schedule):
- Supervise and support a team of group leaders as they deliver educational and recreational activities.
-Ensure daily schedules and programming run smoothly and meet the developmental needs of students.
-Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful camp culture for both staff and participants.
-Monitor student safety and behavior, responding appropriately to incidents or concerns.
-Communicate regularly with the program director and provide updates on staff performance and camper experiences.
-Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating training and team meetings.
-Serve as a point of contact for staff, parents, and community members when needed.
-Ensure compliance with all OST and licensing guidelines, including attendance and incident reporting.

Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in child development, Education, Psychology, or a related field with 1 year of experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or after-school program setting.
or
-An associates degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children in an educational, childcare, or after-school program setting.
-Knowledge ofchild development principlesand best practices for managing behavior in school-age children.
-Ability to create and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities and educational programs.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when interacting with children, parents, and staff.
-Leadership abilitiesto manage and motivate staff, as well as to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities.
- Strongorganizational skillsto manage schedules, documentation, and reports.
-Strong ability to use Excel for data entry, creating and managing spreadsheets, analysis, and reporting.
-Familiarity with generating reports, analyzing program data, and using system features for managing attendance, schedules, and communication with participants such as Cityspan.
-Must Drive, own vehicle and willing to transport equipment and materials to program site.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to engage in physical activities with children, including playing games and participating in outdoor activities.
Ability to lift 25 lbs. as necessary.

Compensation:
Entry-Level (1-2 years of experience): $22.50 hourly
Mid-Level (2-4 years of experience): $25 hourly
