Seeking an Accounting Clerk for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Warren PA. They are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to join their finance team. This role is critical for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely, compliant payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, proficiency in payroll systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Duties
- Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management
- Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting
Payroll Duties
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees
- Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax information and voluntary deductions
- Prepare and file payroll-related tax forms (i.e., W-2, 941, state unemployment)
- Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits
- Stay current on payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in accounting support and payroll processing
- Strong understanding of GAAP and payroll compliance requirements
- Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (i.e., QuickBooks, ADP, Paychex)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)

Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-state payroll and tax compliance
- Knowledge of internal controls and audit preparation
- Familiarity with benefits administration and HR processes
