Overview

Greiner Industries is seeking a skilled Electrical Foreman to join our team. This position will be responsible for directly supervising, coordinating, and participating in the activities of the Electrical Enclosure Fabrication Team. A highly skilled and experienced electrician serving hands-on, on-site leadership focused on planning, executing, delegating, and participating in the daily tasks, quality, and immediate safety of the Team

Key Responsibilities

Foreman:

  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, drawings, or job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points to determine requirements and to plan procedures.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of Team.
  • Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs.
  • Coordinate work activities with other departments, such as pre-electric and post-electric Enclosure fabrication project activities.
  • Estimate material or worker hours/requirements to complete jobs.
  • Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods.
  • Order or requisition materials and supplies.
  • Train workers in operation of equipment, safety procedures, and observation of company policies.
  • Locate, measure, and mark placement of components, using measuring and marking equipment.
  • Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.
  • Arrange for repairs of equipment.
  • Perform skilled assistance of Team members and engage in working, fabrication, and construction activities of Enclosure units, using hands, hand tools or other equipment.
  • Record information, such as personnel, production, or operational data on required forms and reports.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
  • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.

Electrician:

  • Place EMT and rigid conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Assemble, install, test electrical wiring, equipment, apparatus, fixtures, junction boxes, switches, outlets, distribution panels, etc.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and layout drawings.
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision.

Specific Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Performing work with drawings, blueprints, schematics.
    • Interpretation of Technical Data: Ability to read and understand detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
    • Spatial Visualization: Mentally converting 2D plans, elevations, and sections into a 3D structure.
    • Symbol and Abbreviation Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-standard notations for electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural elements.
    • Measurement and Math Proficiency: Ability to calculate dimensions, scale, and material requirements.
    • Understanding Orthographic Projection: Interpreting top, side, and front views to understand component relationships.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Education and Experience:

  • Vocational/Trade School Degree or completed apprenticeship with trade certification.
    • Equivalent work experience without formal education or certification, a minimum of 5 years’ direct related work experience.
  • Journeyman or Master certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience with 2 years of demonstrated leadership and responsibility of a crew or team of electricians.
