Position: Host / Hostess
Department: Front of House
Reports To: General Manager / Front of House Manager

Position Summary:

The Host/Hostess is the first impression of The Fainting Goat and plays an important role in creating a welcoming experience for every guest. This position is responsible for greeting guests, managing seating flow, coordinating reservations, and supporting the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and efficient service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Welcome guests with a friendly and positive attitude upon arrival
• Manage the restaurant's greeting and seating process
• Answer phones, take reservations, and provide accurate information to guests
• Maintain wait lists and communicate estimated wait times
• Escort guests to tables and provide menus
• Communicate table availability and guest needs with servers and management
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming entrance area
• Assist servers and bartenders with guest needs when necessary
• Monitor dining room flow and help ensure an excellent guest experience
• Handle guest questions, concerns, and requests professionally
• Assist with opening and closing front-of-house duties

Qualifications:

• Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• Professional appearance and positive attitude
• Ability to remain calm and courteous during busy service periods
• Reliable and dependable team player
• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred but not required
