Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

FLSA Status: Full-time exempt
Position Summary
We are seeking a detailed Quality Assurance Specialist to oversee quality control processes and ensure compliance with ISO, MIL-STD, and Department of Defense (DoD) requirements. This role will perform hands-on inspections of fabricated metal products (aircraft towbars, air stabilizers, torpedo suspension systems, aerial delivery equipment, etc.), maintain quality documentation, and support customer and government audits.
The ideal candidate will have experience in aerospace/defense manufacturing and a strong understanding of the DoD contract quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform in-process, final, and first article inspections for fabricated metal products.
· Review blueprints, specifications, and work instructions to ensure builds meet contract and regulatory requirements.
· Maintain and update quality records, including inspection reports, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action documentation.
· Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, MIL-STD-45662A, ANSI/ASQC Z1.4, and related standards.
· Prepare for and participate in DoD and customer audits.
· Support calibration and maintenance programs for inspection tools and measuring devices.
· Collaborate with production, engineering, and management to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
· Promote a culture of continuous improvement (Lean/5S) across the shop floor.
· Ensure DFARS compliance in handling-controlled data and components.
Qualifications
· 2-5 years of quality assurance or inspection experience in manufacturing (aerospace/defense preferred).
· Familiarity with ISO 9001, MIL-STD, and DoD quality requirements.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
· Experience using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, torque tools).
· Strong organizational and documentation skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications· Proficient in reading and interpreting engineer drawings & GD&T.
· Experience with government contract quality systems (ITAR/DFARS)
