Bloomsday and Loretta's Sweet & Savory are neighborhood Philadelphia restaurants built on thoughtful food, warm hospitality, and a strong sense of community. Our shared bakery program is rooted in seasonal ingredients and carefully crafted pastries and breads, made in-house for both cafés.

We are in a season of growth, and we are focused on strengthening the core of our operation: our pastry team. This role is designed for someone eager to learn, contribute, and build a strong foundation in baking while supporting the daily rhythm of a collaborative kitchen.

Position Overview

We are looking for a full-time Pastry Assistant to join our growing team. This is a foundational role centered on the lamination of croissants, kitchen organization, and preparing the space for a successful morning bake. You will work closely with our Executive Pastry Chef and Pastry Sous Chef, helping keep the kitchen clean, stocked, and ready — playing a key role in the team's daily bake-off.

Schedule

• Early morning and weekend shifts
• 4:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Typical Shift Flow

• 4:00 AM – 7:00 AM: Bake and package pastries
• 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM: Dishwashing and kitchen reset
• 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Preparing laminated doughs and assembling pastries
• 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Kitchen maintenance, cleaning, and setup for the next day's bake

What You Will Do

• Make, bake, and organize scratch-made pastries
• Set up and break down the kitchen before and after service
• Keep tools, equipment, and workstations clean, stocked, and ready for use
• Support the Executive Pastry Chef and Pastry Sous Chef with small, detail-oriented tasks during production
• Assist with basic pastry finishing and preparation as needed
• Help maintain an efficient, steady kitchen flow throughout the shift
