The Assistant Director, Finance is responsible for analysis and reconciliation on major financial components of non-clinical School funds. The incumbent will maintain/oversee several applications including trial balance and 14fund database. The incumbent will become an advanced user of the School's financial reporting system. The ability to analytically handle large data sets, with demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet and database tools, is vital. The members of Finance have a professional body of knowledge (encompassing budget and fiscal planning, accounting, business affairs, physician billing, internal audit, grant accounting, purchasing) that is applied to the financial operations of the University. Job Details:
* This position requires a background check for cash handling responsibilities. Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field required.
* Four to five years related financial analysis or financial systems experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience:
* Master's degree. Required Skills and Abilities:
* Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with spreadsheet and database software programs.
* Demonstrated ability to design systems for analysis or operational processes, and reporting.
* Demonstrated ability to seek and analyze information and processes.
* Developed critical thinking skills necessary for efficient problem solving.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated attention to detail.
* Deep understanding of financial reporting standards.
* Familiarity with software applications with the proven ability to quickly learn and utilize new applications.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals.
* Ability to draft accounting disclosures. Essential Duties:
Analysis/Reconciliation
* Review and approve all PCard activity for LKSOM (non-clinical funding sources). Research/resolve any PCard issues with LKSOM faculty and staff, the University PCard Administrator, and Internal Audits.
* Reconcile all LKSOM transactions between Banner and Hyperion, update the monthly trial balance database, and create all trial balance reports for LKSOM.
* Review balance fund activity, generate monthly balance fund reports, and assist departments in clearing deficits.
* Assist ULAR with monthly review of animal research laboratory invoices before distribution to the University community.
* Prepare and monitor LKSOM non-faculty and non-compensation budget across non-clinical funding sources.
* Assist in completing the salary recovery review for all Basic Science & Research departments.
* Maintain master list of financial arrangements between LKSOM and its affiliates to ensure accurate financial exchange with TFPP, TUH, FCCC, and TPI.
* Review, analyze, and approve the monthly LKSOM/TUHS inter-company expense exchange. Work with General Accounting and Research Administration to resolve any issues.
* Prepare monthly clinical research journal entry.
* Gather, prepare, and complete data for annual LCME reporting for LKSOM, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Finance.
Financial/Performance Reporting
* Generate monthly financial report sets for sr. leadership.
* Calculate performance reports and gap analyses for clinical and basic science faculty.
