Engineering Manager – Custom Industrial Systems

Lead the engineering organization responsible for the design and build of custom, engineered-to-order industrial equipment, machinery, and control systems. This position directs mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering teams from concept through commissioning, unifying all technical disciplines to deliver high-performance, safe, and reliable manufacturing systems. The Engineering Manager will standardize processes, elevate technical execution, and ensure consistent delivery across complex, specification-driven equipment programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 12+ years of experience designing and integrating custom machinery, manufacturing cells, or process control systems.
• Strong background in functional and machine safety, including light curtains, interlocks, and safety-rated PLCs.
• Experience with platforms such as Siemens S7-1500F, Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, Omron NX-Safety, SICK Flexi Soft, or TwinSAFE.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience within an industrial equipment or system builder environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team spanning mechanical, electrical, and controls design.
• Oversee the concept development, detailed engineering, and build of custom, engineered-to-order machinery and process control systems.
• Implement standardized estimating, design, and documentation methods to improve consistency and technical accuracy.
• Evaluate and deploy new tools and technologies that enhance design efficiency and system reliability.
• Guide the development of advanced motion, hydraulic, and control systems for complex industrial applications.
• Direct resource allocation, performance tracking, and process improvement initiatives within the department.
• Participate in RFQ and proposal reviews to confirm scope, feasibility, and risk management.
• Conduct design and project reviews to ensure compliance with performance, schedule, and cost targets.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and manufacturing leadership to align engineering output with business objectives.
• Mentor and advance engineering staff in system design, process control, and safety integration practices.
