Position Summary

Sturgeon Consulting is growing — and we’re looking for our next Safety Consultant.

We are a safety and environmental consulting firm that has been serving clients for over 20 years – now backed by Liberty Insurance Agency, a second-generation, family-owned independent agency headquartered in Pittsburgh. Together, we provide clients with a fully integrated approach to risk: combining hands-on safety and environmental consulting with commercial insurance, employee benefits, and claims advocacy — all under one roof.

Our consultants don’t just attend meetings and complete checklists. They become trusted extensions of our clients’ leadership teams — the people business owners call when they need real answers about protecting their employees, staying compliant, and driving down their total impact of risk.

We’re looking for someone who can do all of that — and who also has the drive and confidence to help us grow.

What You’ll Do

• On the consulting side, you’ll work directly with a wide range of manufacturing and construction clients — conducting site assessments, implementing safety programs, conducting training classes, preventing injuries, managing regulatory compliance, and providing guidance on claim management. You’ll be the expert in the room, and you’ll be expected to communicate complex regulatory topics in plain language that resonates with everyone, from a plant floor supervisor to a CFO.

• On the business leadership side, you’ll help plan client service activity, schedule appointments, and assist and develop other team members. You will need to be able to draw on your formal training and work experience to solve problems and provide solutions. Your leadership duties may also include meeting with new clients and outlining the value brought to the table by our team.

What We’re Looking For

• A bachelor’s degree in Safety Management / EHS or equivalent.
• 5+ years in safety consulting, manufacturing or construction safety / EHS.
• A solid command of OSHA standards and compliance.
• The ability to quickly establish trust and respect with clients and teammates across our organization.
• An individual with the ability to occasionally meet with prospective clients and clearly communicate what makes our approach effective. You also need to be able to meet client needs and maintain current relationships.
• A professional certification (CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, CIH) is a plus — if you don’t have one yet, we’ll support you in getting there.
