SCHOOL NURSE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide basic care for students when they are injured ill, and manage chronic conditions.
• Oversee the school's medication administration program.
• Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as hygiene and proper nutrition.
• Work with school staff to ensure the physical and emotional safety of the school community.

SCHOOL NURSE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a School Nurse as prescribed in the bylaws of the State Department of Education.
• Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
• Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.
