Position Overview

System One is seeking 6–8 Civil / Concrete / Soil Inspectors to support a major long-term construction project in Homer City, PA . This role will provide field inspection and testing oversight for concrete and soil construction activities.

This is a long-duration assignment (12–20 months), with staggered start dates:

• 3–4 Inspectors starting March 2026

• 3–4 Inspectors starting May 2026

Inspectors will be employed by System One and assigned onsite under the direction of the project’s quality management team.

Senior leadership will be onsite, making this a strong opportunity for inspectors with solid field experience who are looking to gain exposure on a large-scale project.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of:

  • Rebar placement

  • Anchor bolts

  • Embeds

  • Formwork

  • Embeds

  • Footings and slabs

  • Joint detailing and related concrete work

• Oversee and document concrete testing:

  • Slump tests

  • Air content

  • Temperature

  • Compressive strength sampling

  • Cylinder casting and handling

• Oversee and document soil testing:

  • Compaction testing (Proctor / field density)

  • In-place density testing

  • Geotechnical verifications

• Verify materials, mix designs, placement procedures, and workmanship comply with:

  • Project drawings

  • Contract documents

  • Specifications

  • Applicable codes

• Maintain accurate daily reports, inspection logs, test documentation, NCRs, and photo records

• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project management to resolve field quality issues

• Ensure adherence to site safety and environmental requirements

• Assist with submittal reviews and testing schedules as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of progressive field experience in concrete and/or soil inspection

• Hands-on experience with:

  • Rebar and anchor bolt inspection

  • Formwork and embed verification

  • End bed construction

  • Slump, cone, and compaction testing

  • Concrete cylinder sampling

• Strong documentation and communication skills

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• ICC Concrete and/or ICC Soil Inspector certification

• ACI certification (e.g., Concrete Field Testing Technician)

• Experience on heavy civil, industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Ability to walk uneven terrain and climb ladders

• Ability to lift testing equipment and concrete cylinders as needed

Compensation & Additional Details

• Long-term contract (12–20 months)

• Onsite role in Homer City, PA

• Competitive hourly rate based on experience and certifications

• Local candidates preferred; per diem available for qualified non-local candidates

• Must be able to pass background screening and drug/alcohol testing
