Organist / Pianist
Purpose: To provide appropriate organ/piano music for services of worship and support the congregational singing and celebration of worship through music.
Accountability: Accountable to the pastor as head of staff. In absence of head of staff,
this person reports to Session.Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and play organ/piano music appropriate to each service of worship including congregational hymns, prelude, offertory, postlude and special music. Prepare appropriate music for weddings, funerals, and special services as requested. Attend choir/solo rehearsals for the purpose of accompaniment. Schedule/coordinate sanctuary use for music practices. Arrange for a substitute when not able to be present. Coordinate with the Trustees on the care of the instruments, including the tuning of piano.Experience Needed:
Proficiency in playing the organ/piano. Knowledge of traditional and contemporary church music. Ability to play a wide variety of musical styles. Ability to work collaboratively with choir director, other musicians and church staff.Relationships: Accountable to the pastor as head of staff and receive input from other worship leaders and coordinators in the performance of their responsibilities.
Evaluation: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the pastor as head of staff and the Personnel Committee. The Trustees will annually review the adequacy of compensation.
Minimum annual salary of $5,700, commensurate with experience.
